New PowerEdge Servers and Rack Updates
Dell Technologies has unveiled new additions to its PowerEdge server lineup and introduced enhanced services at two major events: Supercomputing 24 in Atlanta and Microsoft’s Ignite conference. These innovations are designed to accelerate AI adoption in enterprises and address diverse computing needs.
New PowerEdge Servers and Rack Updates
Dell announced the PowerEdge XE7740 and PowerEdge XE9685L servers alongside updates to the Integrated Rack 5000 (IR5000) series, which now expands the capabilities of the 7000 rack series. These racks, supporting both liquid and air cooling, can house up to 96 GPUs per unit.
- PowerEdge XE7740: Built with Intel’s Xeon Scalable Gen Six processors, this server targets AI inference tasks and model fine-tuning.
- PowerEdge XE9685L: This high-density server is optimized for AI training and can accommodate up to 96 Nvidia H200 or B200 GPUs per rack.
To support advanced AI workflows, Dell provides flexible AI accelerator configurations. Customers can start with a single 75-watt GPU and scale up to eight double-wide GPU cards. High-speed network connectivity is ensured through eight front PCIe slots, essential for maximizing GPU performance.
Dell is also rolling out next-generation liquid-cooled servers equipped with AMD CPUs, enabling efficient cooling for both CPUs and GPUs. These servers now feature 12 PCIe slots, enhancing scalability and customization options.
Integrated Rack Enhancements and Nvidia Collaboration
The newly upgraded Integrated Rack 7000 supports up to 144 GPUs in a 50OU standard rack. A new PowerEdge XE server tailored for the IR7000 is designed to accommodate Nvidia’s upcoming GB200 Grace Blackwell NVL4 Superchip.
Dell has also partnered with Nvidia to integrate their technologies. By year-end, Dell will offer support for Nvidia Tensor Core GPUs, including the H200 SXM cloud GPUs. Future PowerEdge servers will support Nvidia H100 NVL GPUs, ensuring seamless compatibility between Nvidia software and Dell hardware infrastructure.
Introducing Dell Agentic RAG for Professional Users
To cater to data scientists and professionals, Dell has launched Agentic RAG, a solution powered by Nvidia. This software addresses data access and regulatory challenges using specialized RAG agents. While the software is already available, GPU updates will roll out by the end of the year.
